Get your thrills in KC at World’s of Fun & Oceans of Fun. Take your chances on The Prowler Coaster, voted Best New Coaster in 2009 by Amusement Today. Get your adrenaline going with the Patriot, a ruthless, looping, spiraling corkscrew coaster to beat the band. It’s all here in the heartland city - jazz, BBQ, Pony Express and a splashin’ good time.
Discover the World War I Museum with 49,000 artifacts and historical collections since 1920. You can immerse yourself in the life of the great President Calvin Coolidge and top if off with the observation deck with great views of Union Station, Crown Center and the Kansas City skyline. Hop on over to Union Station and treat your group to the Science City & Interactive Attractions. Some of the best art can be seen at Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, including Louise Bourgeois’ 1600-pound Spider.
A sure-fire debut to the history tour is the Steamboat Arabia Museum at The City Market with displays of the artifacts carried aboard the Arabia when it sank in 1856 ---don’t forget to ask about the sealed pickle that survived this shipwreck. One of the excavators actually sampled the 132-year-old pickle and said it tasted just fine. Climb aboard the steamboat Arabia where a mule was this shipwreck’s only casualty.
Beef it up a little with KC’s quirky side - Leila’s Hair Museum in Independence, where there are 159 wreaths and 2000 pieces of jewelry made from, or containing, human hair. Now that’s quirky! Also displayed here are the locks of Marilyn Monroe and Abraham Lincoln. You won’t want to miss this treat of a tour for your next group excursion. Wrap it up with state-of-the-art fun center Powerplay in Shawnee, Kansas, with activities for all ages and a quick-serve buffet to keep you on the move with Kansas City’s best!
